  • Resource Centre - aids and equipment are available and on display in our Resource Centre which is open Tuesday to Friday 10.00a.m. to 12 noon and by afternoon appointment . (See Activities Note)
  • Help Desk (situated in local Hospitals) - You will find the Information Desk situated in the Eye Clinic at Harrogate District Hospital.  Ann Routledge, our Information Officer is available Tuesday and Thursday mornings or by appointment.
  • Counselling (free service to members and their families) - loss of sight is a traumatic experience and you may want to talk about what this means to you or you may have other issues that you would like to bring to counselling. This is a totally confidential service offered free of charge by a qualified counsellor (by appointment only).
  • Home Visiting - Two part-time visitors cover the Harrogate and District area visiting members in their own homes who are either unable or prefer not to attend the Social Centre. Our visitors, Ann Drummond and Barbara Bailey are friendly and approachable and ready to listen in confidence to members and their families.
  • Telephone Befriending Service - Being visually impaired herself our 'telephone friend' knows many of the difficulties and challenges facing people who are experiencing sight difficulties.  It is, of course, often just nice to have someone to talk to, perhaps confide in, someone you can trust and rely upon to be there for you on a regular basis.  Our 'telephone friend' can be all those things and more!
  • We are entirely dependant on donations and our wonderful team of volunteers to carry out the activities shown above.  We are constantly in the debt of those who give so generously in so many ways.

If you require further information about any of the above, please contact the Centre on (01423) 565915.
